His Escape

Former N.S.A contractor, Edward Snowden released important information after he  became frustrated with the government’s lack of integrity. Some are calling him a hero and others consider him a whistle-blower; Mr. Snowden is charged with espionage and theft. Americans are now reinforcing their constitutional right, asking for their privacy back. Edward Snowden is living in and being protected by Russia; America is patiently waiting for his return. Leaving America was a risk that Snowden took to avoid charges; a NSA employee need to inform a supervisor a month in advance before traveling. Mr. Snowden was already being monitored, so he traveled without informing anyone. Hong Kong was a safe haven for Edward Snowden that made him feel safe. Snowden didn’t just randomly released the documents, be carefully selected the ones that he felt the public needed to know about.

“I carefully evaluated every single document I disclosed to ensure that each was legitimately in the public interest,” he said. “There are all sorts of documents that would have made a big impact that I didn’t turn over, because harming people isn’t my goal. Transparency is.”’- Snowden

I believe once he returns to America he will be prosecuted. I’m also curious about why the NSA didn’t pick up on the fact that Snowden had bought plane tickets. Perhaps they did but it was already too late? Or maybe they didn’t think that part of his life was important enough to monitor.
