According to Mike Masnick in the link above, congress quickly passed the FISA Amendments Act (FAA), which included a provision granting retroactive immunity to the Telcos who helped the government by passing along private info despite the lack of any warrant. So what is retroactive immunity? “Retroactive” means (especially of legislation) taking effect from a date in the past. And “immunity” [law] officially granted from legal proceedings.
By having this the government is able to cover up the mishap and continue to do illegal activities from the mishap events in the past.
My suggested plan of action is to remove this immunity. By removing this immunity the service provider companies(i.e. AT&T, Verizon) are unable to break the law by giving away data that belongs to the American People.
This will make it to where the NSA has to have direct contact with the individuals they are taking the data from and explaining why they are taking the data.
